Preparation and characterization of the brominated starch |
초록 |
Starch is composed of amylose and amylopectin. The former has a linear structure consisting of α-1,4-linked D-glucose units, and the latter has the same backbone as amylose with α-1,6-linked D-glucose units. Many researchers have focused on starch because of its biodegradability, biocompatibility, and nontoxicity. Thus, it is modified by various modification methods. Halogenation is a chemical reaction with halogens such as chlorine and bromine. Although chlorination of starch has been studied several times, few articles have showed that bromination is used to modify starch. In this study, the modified starch is developed by bromination. It has a bromide group instead of a hydroxyl group on carbon number 6 of the original one by N-Bromosuccinimide and triphenylphosphane. Then the brominated starch was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and 1H-nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. It could be a potential application of a biodegradable superabsorbent polymer. |
