In this study, a convenient method for the immobilization of a cell-adhesive poly(sodium 4-styrene sulfonate) (NaPSS) on non-adhesive substrates was described. NaPSS was immobilized on a polystyrene (PS) petridish via a spin-coating followed by an ion implantation at various fluences, and the resulting NaPSS was investigated in terms of the remaining thickness, chemical structure, morphology, and wettability. As a result, cell-adhesive NaPSS was successfully immobilized on the bio-inert PS surface and cells were well-adhered to and proliferated on the NaPSS- immobilized surface. |
