A study on chemical and thermal stability of the sulfonated styrene/vinyl pyrrolidone-based composite membranes |
초록 |
The pore filling membranes based on styrene were prepared for polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) applications. In this sturdy, three monomers, styrene, N-vinyl pyrrolidone(VP) and di-vinylbenzene(DVB) were used for membrane preparation. VP was introduced to the polymer backbone and functioned as a styrene substitute to improve the oxidative stability of styrene-based membranes from radical attack. DVB was used as a crosslinker and also improve the oxidative stability. The porous PE film which has 20um thickness and 38% porosity was used as a substrate. It gives the mechanical stability to membranes and can make the thin membrane below 30 um. The prepared membranes which have various compositions of the monomer ratio showed good proton conductivity and thermal stability. Compared with the same DVB contents (10 wt% DVB in the monomer composition), membranes containing the more VP enhanced better oxidative stability in 3 wt% H2O2 solution and better thermal stability. |
