The addition of highly thermal conductive fillers to polymer matrix is an effective way to increase the thermal conductivity of polymer composites. Because of its low cost, promising thermal conductivity and insulating properties, alumina is now commonly used as an efficient filler to increase the thermal conductivity of polymer composites. In fact, there is a lot of phonon scattering between the filler-polymer matrix because of the poor compatibility between the interface of alumina particles and the organic resin matrix, the composite's thermal conductivity only increases slightly. In this work, we coated polypyrrole on the alumina surface using a vapor phase polymerization process, then mixed into the epoxy resin. We also evaluated the thermal conductivity of Epoxy/PPy-coated Al2O3 composites. |
