In order to understand the dissolution behaviors of vitrified wastes in the buffer of a repository, simulated borosilicate glass specimens sandwiched between the bentonite blocks were dissolved by groundwater at 80℃ for about three years. Three kinds of glasses (K-, A- and J-glass) and two kinds of bentonite (Na- and Ca-bentonite) were used for this study. After dissolution experiment, the surface alteration of glass was observed by EPMA, XRD and an optical microscope. The solution flew through the dissolution cell was also analyzed to estimate the dissolution rate of glass matrix. |
