Recent developments of technologies in Proteomics help to elucidate the functions of proteins in diseases, and could lead to discover novel drug target proteins and biomarkers of diseases. Ultimate goals are pursuing to study entire proteomes of elucidating protein expression, subcellular localization, biochemical activities, and their regulation. This wealth of information not only has facilitated our basic understanding of many biological processes but also has enormous potential for drug discovery and development. This seminar will describe recent advances in proteomic technology with newly challenging proteomic technologies such as non-2D quantitative/comparative analysis such as Isotope-Coded Affinity Tag (ICAT)/MS and PreFractional 2D (PF2D) system and deeper digging proteomes with Free Flow Electrophoresis (FFE) and discuss the potential applications of proteomics in biomedical research. |
