Effect of Hybridization of PLLA Scaffolds with Ceramic Compounds on Mechanical Properties and Biocompatibility |

Researches on biomaterials are continuously growing. Although biodegradable polymers are considered as good candidates for the use of biomaterials, their mechanical strength is somewhat weak to satisfy the level of requirements. Poly(L-lactic acid) was used for the preparation of a 3D porous scaffold and its mechanical strength was improved via hybridization with ceramic compounds. The mechanical properties, such as compressive strength, and cell responses including proliferation and differentiation of osteoblastic MG-63 cells were examined. Our results illustrated that mechanical and biological properties of PLLA-ceramic compound hybrid scaffold were considerably improved. |
