제목 Thermal Drawing Process to Improve Mechanical Properties of Biodegradable Stents
초록 Biodegradable stents have been of great interest since they decompose naturally in vivo without additional surgery. However, their use in clinical applications is limited by the inherent low mechanical properties of polymers relative to metals. In this study, we developed a thermal drawing process to improve the mechanical strength of biodegradable PLLA stents. To stably process the biodegradable polymer tube, heat was evenly transferred by the tube using a specially designed thermal drawing machine. Indeed, it was confirmed that the mechanical properties of the polymer tubing were improved by the thermal drwing process. It is believed that this study will allow us to construct a biodegradable stent with high mechanical strength to overcome the clinical limitations of conventional biodegradable polymer stents.
