During the recent years, epoxy-rubber systems are applied in the bonding technology, for example, in the automotive and aircraft industries. The role of the rubber in the system is to alleviate the shortage of toughness resulting from the highly crosslinked but usually brittle structure of the cured epoxy resin. In this study, we used an epoxy network based on diglycidylether of bisphenol-A (DGEBA), dicyandiamide (Dicy) and polyurethane. Furthermore, liquid rubber and core-shell nanoparticles (CSR) were used to compare toughness with that of polyurethane. The effects of rubber modifier on the curing behaviors, viscosity, storage stability of an epoxy/ dicyandiamide/ different kind of toughening agent system are studied with differential calorimetry (DSC) and viscometer. |
