Lycopene is a powerful actioxidant and natural pigment occurring in red ripe fruit.(tomato, watermelon, guana and so on) Research has shown it has antioxidative and anticancer effect. In this study, we extract the lycopene from tomatoes using diethyl ether and ethyl acetate. The structure of the lycopene after extraction and purification was analyzed by FT-IR,UV spectroscopy and 1H-NMR spectrum. And then, antioxidative effect of the lycopene was measured by the DPPH(1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) radical scavenging activity. |
