Organic optoelectronic materials (OOEM) can be used as an active component of Photovoltaic (PV) Device, Photodetector, Light Emitting Diode (LED), Electrochromic Device, Field Effect Transistor (FET), Supercapacitor, and Battery. In this study, we will concentrate on Organic Optoelectronic PV Device, and will show (1) why this area receiving growing attention, (2) why OOEM is attractive for applying to the PV device, (3) what makes the difference between OOEM and conventional inorganic semiconductor, and (4) finally, what kind of structure, especially using nanotechnology, is good for the optimum function of PV device. And, as a specific example, we will show a nanoscale device incorporating active materials such as zinc phthalocyanine and smectic liquid crystalline perylene diimide. As a result, our proposed device showed a relatively good short circuit photocurrent, open circuit photovoltage and fill factor at Xe white light. |
