Peripheral nerve defects have been issues for nerve regeneration surgeons for decades. In particular, it should be considered that the fabrication of an scaffold for nerve regeneration can enhance the regeneration of injured nerve cells according to mimicking the ECM structures around neurons. In this study, a PLGA (poly(Lactide-co-Glycolide))-ppy (polypyrrol) based scaffold that can provide physical and electrical stimulation was synthesized. In addition, for physical stimulation to be provided to neurons, electrospun-PVP (Polyvinylpyridone) fiber was used that provide a groove on the surface of the scaffold. To provide passive or active electrical cue, the fabricated scaffold was coated with polypyrrole. It is expected that the synthesis of this scaffold can be applied to regenerate the nerve tissues naturally in the area of tissue engineering. |
