In this study, instead of using urethane curing systems, which have long been used as solid propellants, a triazole curing system has been introduced into a new binder recipe in which azide groups in the polymer react with triple bonds of a dipolarophile curing agent (click reaction). Glycidyl azide polymer (GAP) and Poly(glycidyl azide-to-tetramethylene glycol) (PGT(5/5)) was respectively cured through polyurethane reaction with IPDI and “click reaction” with PPG-based cross-linkers. The PPG-based cross-linker were synthesized with propargyl 3-carboxylic-propanoate and series of poly(propylene glycol) (PPG). Crosslinking density and the molecular weights between the crosslinking points (Mc) were determined from swelling data, and Flory-Rehner equation. Thermal and mechanical properties of these polyurethane networks were measured and analyzed as a function of crosslinking density and Mc. |
