Polysuccinimide (PSI) graft copolymers possessing MPEG hydrophilic segment were synthesized and, were employed to encapsulate 100 ~ 200 nm sized iron oxide pre-synthesized by co-precipitation method. The stable encapsulation required the chemical bonding beween two systems via introduction of bridging material, APS. The structure and properties of the magnetite encapsulated polymer particles were characterized in wide aspects in order to investigate their application for the MRI imaging probe in this contribution.. The chemical identification by FTIR, FTNMR, XRD, the particle size TEM and light scattering anaqlyzer, the supramagnetic property and cell viability .FTIR and FTNMR confirmed the successful synthesis of MPEG-g- PSI and APS coated magnetite, and even the chemical bonding between the two materials, while the crystalline structure of iron oxide magnetite particles was identified using XRD. The size of pure magnetite and polymer coated magnetite aggregates by TEM and light scattering analyzer. The magnetite aggreagates preparaed in this study were bio compatible from the cell viability test. |
