Titanium dioxide(TiO2) nanoparticles have been utilized towards various applications such as chemical sensors, catalytic devices and photoelectrode due to their unique photocatalytic activity and electron transporting ability. By properly doping inorganic material within TiO2, the conduction band level of TiO2 can be lowered, and the electronic band gap is optimized. The subsequent increase in electron transportation ability elevates current density, finally improving the efficiency of catalytic device for water splitting. In this study, we prepared TiO2 nanoparticles doped with various inorganic materials to improve photocatalytic efficiency of TiO2 for water splitting under visible light. In order to improve optical property of anode, inverse opal TiO2 film was fabricated by slide coating binary aqueous mixture of polystyrene(PS)/inorganic doped TiO2 and subsequent calcination to remove PS opals. The obtained TiO2 inverse opal films applied to the photoelectrode for water splitting. |
