In this poster, we will introduce the novel olefin production process, GTO (greenhouse gas to olefin). GTO process is consecutive integrated three unit operations of greenhouse gas (such as CH4 and CO2) reforming unit, Fischer-Tropsch unit for syngas production and olefin cracking unit for maximizing olefin production. It is expected that GTO process not only can reduce greenhouse gases but also produce olefins. The pilot scale GTO process shows more than 85% of olefin selectivity in light (C2~C4) hydrocarbons and 50% of light olefin selectivity in produced total hydrocarbons with the capacity of 10 kg of olefin production rate per day. It is noticed that 1 kg of CH4 and 2kg of CO2 can produce more than 0.3 kg of light olefins and 0.2 kg of C5+. Three different catalysts for reforming, FT and olefin cracking were tested in the pilot scale GTO plant and characterized. The simple economic evaluation of GTO will be compared to other alternative olefin production process such as MTO process. |
