Study on the conversion of the light energy into the other type of energy we can easily use has attracted numerous attentions to world-wide researchers in recent decades. The broad adoption of such energy conversions demands the development of stable, economical, and efficient materials. As for the solar to chemical conversion, photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting can be a promising pathway for pure solar fuel production such as H2. In this talk, several rational nanostructure-engineering approaches using semiconducting metal oxides will be introduced as a prominent strategy for high efficiency light harvesting energy conversions. For the simultaneous improvement of light absorption, charge separation, and charge transfer efficiencies, systemically designed heterostructural nanomaterials will be described. Additionally, our recent findings on strategies to improve the heterostructured nanomaterials for divergent energy conversions will be introduced in this presentation. |
