Polymer hydrogels usually compose of three-dimensional polymer network structure and contain large amount of water inside the network structure. Recently. double-network (DN) hydrogels have drawn much attention as an innovative material. DN gels show both high water content (about 90 %) and high mechanical strength and toughness while common hydrogels have limitation for their application because of their weak mechanical properties. The DN hydrogels generally possess the inhomogeneous 1st network. In this study, we prepared novel DN hydrogel with homogeneous 1st network structure. These gels consist of two kinds of monomer and nanoparticle (inorganic clay). We investigated the mechanical properties of the nanocomposite hydrogels by changing composition of two monomers. As 1st network’s composition is changed, necking phenomenon was shown, which was not observed in common hydrogels. |
