제목 | A Membrane Contactor Model for Post-Combustion CO2 Capture Processes |
초록 | Post-combustion carbon dioxide capture is one of major carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies. The conventional method for the capture is absorption and desorption of carbon dioxide in columns by the use of an amine based solvent. Since columns have some operational limitations such as flooding and entrainment, membrane contactors are emerging as a new alternative carbon dioxide capture process. The additional advantage of a membrane contactor is its high volumetric mass transfer area due to porous membrane material, enabling compact design of the capture process. This study employed a theoretical approach to improve the process efficiency of the membrane contactor. A model for a hollow fiber membrane contactor was developed based on balance equations and transport phenomena. The model developed in this study was applied to some case studies to analyze the effects of operating conditions on the efficiency of the contactor. |
