We will develop environment-friendly lightweight building materials with low thermal conductivity and even relatively high mechanical property from recycling waste materials such as coal fly ash, FGD gypsum and spent coffee grounds. FGD gypsum is a by-product by removing SO2 from exhaust flue gases of coal combustion power plants. And vast spent coffee grounds are recently generated and most end up in landfill. Fly ash having abundant alumina-silicate elements is a good resource for geopolymerization in an alkaline activation solution creating hardened inorganic polysialate networks, and gypsum plaster has a long utilization history due to its handy fabrication, easy manipulation and fire resistance property. Spent coffee grounds are insoluble and light fibrous organic by-products. Hence, here we have investigated the effects of spent coffee ground and FGD gypsum contents on the compressive strength and thermal conductivity of fly- ash based geopolymer cured at several thermal conditions (using conventional oven and household microwave) with various concentrations of NaOH and solid-liquid ratio. |
