Gold-Silver Multi-component Nanoparticle Hybrid Polymeric Thin Film for Enhanced SPR Biosensor Application |

Controlled synthesis of metal nanoparticles has been a great interest in recent decades due to many potential applications of nanoparticles in detection and analysis devices. Using polymer matrices as templates to guide crystallization and growth of nano-materials would be one of them. We have demonstrated the use of polyelectrolyte multilayer thin film for this purpose, template for nanoparticle synthesis. Here we report the syntheses of gold and silver nanoparticles using polyelectrolyte multilayers. Gold or silver nanoparticle-embedded films reveal enhanced transmission surface plasmon resonance (SPR) spectroscopy. In addition to the basic characterization, bio-compatibility and bio-sensing were tested on gold/silver nanoparticles. |
