Star-shaped polymers exhibit unique physical properties and morphologies due to their structure. Specifically, the mobility of the arms in the star polymers increases from the center to the outer sphere. In this work, we synthesized novel star-shaped block copolymers, poly(methyl methacrylate)-block-poly[poly(ethylene glycol) methacrylate] (PMMA-b-PPEGMA)8 via atom transfer radical polymerization using octafuctional silsesquioxane core. The central PMMA segment contributed to the toughness of the solid film, and the outer PPEGMA segment not only resulted in a high electrical output but also provided flexiblility to the solid polymer film. The polymers were characterized by 1H NMR, SEC, and DSC. Also, ionic conductivities of the polymer electrolytes with v LiTFSI were measured. |
