Recently the power conversion efficiency of polymer solar cells reached ~11% by employing new donor/acceptor materials and by optimizing device structures. The keen interest on polymer solar cells can be attributed to their potential for low-cost manufacturing of ultrathin/lightweight flexible plastic solar modules, which can be realized by utilizing roll-to-roll (R2R) processes at room temperature. For several years our group has devoted to developing new processes that can be easily integrated to the R2R process without huge change of whole fabrication process. In this presentation, as one of our new solar cell processes, we show a micropatterning technology for polymer solar cells from concept to device results. |
