Organic memory devices are currently attracting keen attention because of their versatile features towards ultra-thin, lightweight, flexible memory modules. In particular, they can be fabricated inexpensively by employing roll-to-roll (R2R) processes so that further low-cost advantage can be added. To date, numerous studies on organic memory devices have been reported in regard to operation mechanisms and correlations between memory characteristics and material/device structures. Considering the driving aspect of memory arrays, a transistor-type memory structure is preferred to a diode-type memory transistor structure that requires additional switching (addressing) transistors. In this presentation, we tried to compare and understand exact mechanisms for a couple of organic memory transistors including polymer energy well-based memory devices invented recently by our group. |
