Morphology Development of Block Copolymer in Thin Films via Solvent Annealing |

The self-assembly of block copolymer thin films is currently of interest as a bottom-up approach for generating templates and scaffolds with well-defined periodic nanostructures of spherical, cylindrical, and lamellar morphologies. Adding small molecules into the block copolymer which has strong interaction with one of the component of block copolymer can have great advantages of well-ordered particle arrangement and different nanostructures from neat block copolymer itself. We investigated supramolecular assembly in thin film via strong hydrogen bonding between small molecule and block copolymer. Taking advantage of a solvent annealing process, we obtained different nanostructures and surface morphology and distribution of small molecule were confirmed by atomic force microscope (AFM) and small angle scatterings. |
