Small and medium-sized glove boxes for the handling of depleted uranium were designed and fabricated. We controlled the moisture and oxygen concentration to ＜ 1 ppm and placed depleted uranium into the primary vessel of the hydrogen isotope storage bed. This system consists of a glove box, a purification system and an antechamber, etc. In this study, the characteristics of the small and medium-sized glove box system for the handling of depleted uranium are presented for each component. Operation examples of the glove box system are also presented. The fabricated small and medium-sized glove box system will be utilized for the fabrication of the hydrogen isotope storage bed. |
