A nuclear fusion fuel cycle plant is composed of various subsystems such as a hydrogen isotope storage and delivery system. A metal hydride bed is used for storing hydrogen isotopes. The in-bed calorimetry of a metal hydride bed is important. Helium temperature is the major parameter of the in-bed calorimetry. The optimal helium flow condition determines the performance of the in-bed calorimetry. In this study, we present the details on the hydrogen isotope storage bed for nuclear fusion fuel plants. A vertical-type ZrCo Bed was designed, manufactured and inspected. The standard operating procedures for cooling the vertical-type ZrCo bed that cooling conform to the functional requirements are also developed. |
