The objective of the present study was to develop a new gene carrier consisting of water-soluble chitosan (SC) with pH-sensitive moiety. We found that pH-sensitive moiety modified soluble chitosan (PSC) can be deliver gene into cancer cell. Gelretardation assay showed that was enhanced binding affinity between PSC and gene. Also, Its transfection was increased by enhanced proton sponge effect with modified pH-sensitive material. Characterization of PSC was analysed by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, DLS and TEM studies. Moreover, Its cytotoxicity was confirmed by MTT assay. These results suggest that PSC can be applied as a carrier of gene delivery.
