The Removal Efficiency of Harmful Green-Tide using soil modified various molecular weight chitosan |

In this study, we investigated that chitosan has a potential ability in controlling green-tide without cytotoxicity at fresh water organisms. Here, chitosan is proposed as new algicidal compounds in combating green-tide cells. Optimized concentration of chitosan for flocculation was investigated and it treated in green-tide. Removal efficiency of flocculated green-tide was confirmed by UV. In addition, its removal efficiency was compared with soil-modified chitosan(SMC). Moreover, microcystin and chlorophyl A, intracellular component of disrupted green-tide, was analyzed by HPLC. Furthermore, chitosan and SCM showed that can be controlling green-tide with minimal impact on fresh water ecology. These results suggest that chitosan and SMC can use as material for removal of harmful green-tide.
