Polymer nanocomposite membranes with amino aicd functionalized graphene oxides to improve anti-fouling properties |
초록 |
Polymeric membrane is the most widely used membrane type for water treatment due to relatively low cost compared to inorganic membrane. However, their intrinsic hydrophobicity induces the fouling phenomenon during operation. In this study, Poylethersulfone (PES) nanocomposites with amino acid functionalized graphene oxides was fabricated as ultrafiltration membranes and their separation properties were measured. Amino acid functionalized graphene oxide was used as a hydrophilic filler because zwitterion of amino acid can help to reduce adhesion of foulant on the surface of membrane. The anti-fouling properties were evaluated using bovine serum albumin (BSA) as a model foulant. As hydrophilic filler was added, fouling resistance was enhanced since zwitterion of amino acid helps to form water layer adjacent to the surface of membranes. |
