Amine functionalized zeolites have been applied for effectively CO2 adsorption process from natural gas. Our study was attempted to effectively remove CO2 in methane gas streams using zeolites grafted various amines. The experimental design was based on the principle of cation exchange and ligand binding between amine molecules and zeolites instead of silanol esterification method. The various amines such as amino ethanol (MEA), ethylene diamine (EDA), diethanolamine (DEA), and methyl diethanolamine (MDEA) were screened for CO2 absorption processes . The zeolite 13X was selected as an adsorbent because it has a higher alumina content, including excellent surface area and pore volume, and has higher acid sites than the FAU zeolites. The performance of CO2 adsorption was evaluated by using TGA and BET isotherm adsorption analysis. The CO2 adsorption abilities from methane gas were measured by the lab-scale isotherm adsorption system. |
