Synthesis of Polyurethane-Silicone Oligomers for Flexible Display Application |

General polyurethane has shortcomings of insufficient strength at high temperatures. On the other hand, Siloxanes were known to have many commercial and industrial applications because of the compounds’ hydrophobicity, low thermal conductivity, and high flexibility. Siloxanes were chosen as a polyol due to their good performance in high-temperature applications. In this study, we introduced the side chain of monodicarbinol terminated polydimethylsiloxane as the soft polyol into the polyurethane backbone to enhance mechanical properties at high-temperature. As a result, transparent organic-inorganic hybrid oligomers synthesized successfully and the materials of the hybrid were characterized. The siloxanes can enhance into PU systems either thermal or dynamic properties, while improving or retaining other physical properties, such as optical clarity, compatibility, and processability. |
