Thermoelectric modules, which are composed of many thermoelectric devices as an array, are encountering limitations in respect of both performance and fabrication. It is known that the performance of an organic semiconductor-based unit thermoelectric device is relatively low compared to inorganic counterpart due to its low electrical conductivity. Moreover, fabrication of thermoelectric module needs expensive and complex processes, such as inkjet printing and photolithography. However, both problems are able to be overcome by chemical doping, which improves the device performance by increasing charge carrier concentration and dramatically decreases the solubility of organic films. In this study, we applied chemical doping to organic semiconductors by vapor-phase doping method for facile fabrication of organic thermoelectric module with patterned active layer. |
