Characterization and Preparation of Highly Crosslinked Styrene/DVB Sulfonic Acid-grafted PFA Membranes for Fuel Cell Applications |

In this study, highly crosslinked cation exchange membranes were prepared by a γ-irradiation-induced grafting of styrene into poly(tetrafluoroethylene-co-perfluoropropyl vinyl ether) (PFA) and a subsequent sulfonation. The influences of the crosslinker (DVB) on the physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of the prepared membranes were investigated. The degree of grafting (DOG), ion exchange capacity (IEC), water uptake, proton conductivity, methanol permeability and tensile strength of the highly crosslinked membranes were evaluated. |
