Ion conducting polymer membranes, crosslinked poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide) (PEO-PPO) block co-polymer, were successfully prepared through polymerization via ultraviolet (UV) curing process. Cross-linkable PEO-PPO block co-polymers (S.T.90R4, S.T.701, and S.P.L-35) with styrene group were synthesized through terminal hydroxy groups of PEO-PPO block co-polymer (Pluronic and Tetronic) and 4-vinylbenzyl chloride (VBC). The crosslinked ion conducting polymer membranes were obtained by solvent free UV initiated polymerization of the mixtures containing cross-linkable PEO-PPO block co-polymers, divinyl benzene (DVB), and photo-initiator. Thermal stability of the crosslinked ion conducting polymer membranes were evaluated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and different scanning calorimetry (DSC). Ionic conductivity and mechanical properties test, which affected from PEO-PPO unit number and percentage of DVB, were performed. |
