Stable dispersions of silane coupled graphene oxide in an acrylated epoxidized soy oil (AESO) based thermosetting resin were obtained by mechanical stirring. The thermo-mechanical properties of the polymerized samples measured by DMA. Which shows an improved storage modulus by ~30% for 0.5 wt % GO loading. Higher filler loadings resulted in significant aggregation during polymerization. Wide-angle X-ray scattering, optical microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) demonstrated the formation of aggregates at higher filler loads, which reversed the potential for mechanical improvement. Whereas, TEM showed good intercalation of the polymer matrix with GO flexes which is improving much more properties collectively. |
