제목 Effect of Silane Coupling Agents on the Interfacial Properties of Various Natural Fiber/Polycardanol Biocomposites
초록 Polycardanol can be synthesized by enzymatic polymerization of phenolic derivative, cardanol, having a meta-substituent of a C15 unsaturated hydrocarbon chain with 1,3 double bonds. This formaldehyde-free thermosetting resin has no volatile organic compounds (VOC). The objective of this study is to investigate the interfacial properties of various silane-treated natural fiber/polycardanol biocomposites. Four kinds of natural fibers were used: kenaf, jute, sisal, and banana. The result showed that the interfacial shear strength was significantly improved by using different types and concentrations of organo-silanes. The possible mechanism on the physicochemical interaction between the fibers and the resin at the interfaces has been proposed.
