Nowadays, the development of a cost-effectiveand green strategy to improve the thermal insulation of rigid polyurethane foam(RPUF) is still a potential interest at both the industrial and academic levels.Herein, we reported a solvent-free approach for reducing thermal conductivity and enhancing mechanical properties of the RPUF by using a CNC as a reinforcing nanofiller. For this, the surface of CNC was modified with five different types of silane agents to overcome the hydrophilicity via vapor phase deposition. Then, various dispersion of polyol/modified CNC (0.5wt%, 0.75 wt.%,1 wt.%) was prepared via a simple solvent-free blending method. The stability of the polyol/CNC dispersion was checked by polarized optical microscopy and turbiscan, whereas the viscosity of the resultant dispersion materials was assessed by a viscometer at different temperatures.(Ministry of Trade, Industry &Energy of the Republic of Korea, Grant # 20014762) |
