Hemorrhage from fatal internal injuries are a major cause of mortality. In particular, massive hemorrhage is lead to serious tissue hypoperfusion and hypoxia. Gelatin is a water-soluble natural polymer derived from collagen. Also, which is biocompatible, biodegradable and non-immunogenic. Currently, in some cases, report that a sprayable polymer materials can be effective at control bleeding from soft tissue such as liver or lung, etc. Using this concept, our research focuses on polymeric sprayable foams based on amphiphilic gelatin. In this study, we tested the amphiphilic gelatin based hemostatic foam for its effect to massive bleeding from liver trauma model in rats. The physicochemical properties and hemostasis effects were confirmed by FE-SEM (Field-Emission Scanning Electron Microscope), TGA (Thermogravimetric Analysis), FT-IR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) and immobilization of blood by gelatin foam test. |
