Nanostructured Silica particle's surface was grafted with Diol to reproduce high performance in the oil phase by improving hydrophobicity and dispersibility. The carbon chain of Diol stabilizes silica nanoparticles in the oil phase. According to the increase of carbons in Diol, the dispersion degree of silica particles in the oil phase is measured and observed. Modified silica particles were fabricated through two-step under weak alkaline condition. In advance, Diol modified silane was synthesized by condensation reaction using Diol and tetraethyl orthosilicate. Silica nanoparticles were synthesized by sol-gel process and connected with Diol modified silane under high temperature. Analysis of modified silica nanoparticles was conducted with infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Organic elemental analysis (OER). Dispersion stability was measured by comparing contact angle (CA). |
