Poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) was grafted onto multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs). Composites of PMMA-grafted MWNTs and hexafluoroisopropyidene (6FDA) based polyimides were prepared by solution casting. Since PMMA is miscible with 6FDA based polyimide, the two polymers was mixed intimately to facilitate the dispersion of PMMA-grafted MWNTs in the 6FDA based materials matrix. The intimate mixing is evidenced by the transparency of the composites. As more the concentration of MWNTs increased, the transmittance of composite was decreased. However, incorporation of PMMA-grafted MWNTs to 6FDA based polyimide leads to increases in its surface hardness and its electro conductivity, respectively. |
