Here we synthesized two conjugated small molecules (SM-1 and SM-2) in acceptor-donor-acceptor (A-D-A) type fashion where benzodithiophene or dithienopyrrolidine as donor and 2,4 thiazolidinedione dye as terminal acceptor respectively with new conjugated spacer. The photophysical, thermal, and electrochemical properteies were measured from UV-visible absorption sepctra, thermogravmetric analysis and cyclic voltametry respectively. Further new bulk heterojunction solar cells were fabricated with new conjugated small molecules and SM-1 delivered moderate power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 1.5%. |
