제목 Nanocomposites of Isotactic Polypropylene Reinforced with Carbon Materials
초록 Polypropylene (PP) is a versatile thermoplastic polymer that is being used in a wide variety of applications. Although it has excellent properties, it has relatively low impact strength. Enhancement of PP performance by incorporating reinforcements is a promising way of broadening the use of the material. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are considered as a superior reinforcing filler for the composite materials due to their outstanding mechanical properties and high aspect ratio. Carbon blacks (CBs) are also good reinforcing filler. They have the highest volume and high tensile strength. To incorporate CNTs and CBs in the polymer matrix, several methods have been proposed. However, problems of aggregation and limited compatibility between the carbon materials and the polymer matrix make the polymer composites containing carbon materials quite challenging. In this study, reinforcing effects of carbon black and carbon nanotube fillers on the properties of PP nanocomposites were investigated.
