In the last decades, coronary stents have been generally used to deal with coronary stenosis. Even though numerous clinical successes utilizing metallic stents, it has been reported that their permanent existence in the body induces pains and undesired effects. Thus, various researches have been conducted to adopt biodegradable polymers to obtain suitable exchange between the material and regenerated tissues. Here, we introduce 3D printing technique to produce PCL based coronary stents with customized structure and composition. Taking advantage of 3D printing technique, PCL stents with diversely designed structure were fabricated and examined. Furthermore, supplementary inorganic particles by sol-gel method were incorporated as mechanical and biological enhancers. Structural and mechanical properties, degradability, and biological responses were evaluated in terms of inorganic particle contents in composites. Additionally, characteristics of PCL composite stents were also evaluated. |
