Synthesis of Random and Alternating Copolymers Using Fluorene and Difluoro-Quinoxaline for Photovoltaics |

Synthesis of new random and alternating copolymers using difluro-quinoxaline and fluorene was carried out by Stille and Suzuki coupling reaction. In these polymers, difluro-quinoxaline was used as electorn-deficient unit and fluorene was used as electron-rich unit. The polymers showed good solubility in organic solvents such as chloroform, toluene, chlorobenzene and o-dichlorobenzene (ODCB). These polymers showed an optical bandgap of 1.98 to 2.16 eV, with highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) energy of -5.60 to -5.72eV. The decomposition temperatures (Td) at 5% of the polymers were measured at approximately 415℃. All the polymers displayed absorption spectra in the range of 400 – 580 nm in chloroform solution state and 400 – 650 nm in film state. Under optimized conditions, the best efficiency among the polymers was achieved in random copolymer (ratio of 3:2) with 3.55% of maximum power conversion efficiencies (PCE), Voc of 0.91 V, Jsc of 6.05 mA/cm2, FF of 0.64%. |
