Transparent, Conductive and Wettability-Tunable Films from Stabilized Carbon Nanotube / Silane Sol Solution |

Here, we describe a facile method to fabricate transparent, conductive and wettability-tunable films using a carbon nanotube (CNT)/silane sol solution. A well dispersed thin multi-walled CNT (t-MWNT) solution containing a silane sol was successfully prepared by mixing a hydroxy-modified t-MWNT solution and a silane sol solution. The silane sol was found to stabilize the CNT solution through intermolecular interactions between hydroxyl groups of the CNTs and the silanol groups of the silane sol. Superhydrophobicity or superhydrophilicity of the transparent and conductive t-MWNT/silane hybrid films was achieved by pore generation with CNT networks and incorporation of a fluorinated silane compound into the silane sol. Moreover, the superhydrophobicity could be enhanced by addition of silica nanoparticles, even at 93% transparency and a sheet resistance of 2.2×106 Ω/sq. |
