Synthesis and Properties of Fullerene Derivatives for Optoelectronic Applications |

Semiconducting organic materials are of interest for a variety of electronic and photonic applications. Among them, Thiophene/C60 dyad systems have been reported to show efficient photoinduced intramolecular energy transfer and electron transfer due to their improved charge separation characteristics. Here we report the synthesis of new fullerene derivatives tethered with thiophene units. These fullerene complexes were characterized by means of 1H-NMR, MALDI-TOF, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry. The field-effect transistor and solar cell devices were successfully fabricated by using spin-casting and ink-jet printing process. The ink-jet printed devices showed the higher electron mobility than the devices fabricated by spin casting. |
