제목 In Vitro Comparative Hemostatic Studies of Radiation Fabricated Gelatin Sponges and Commercial SPONGOSTAN®
초록 Hemorrhage is one of the most leading causes of deaths of severely injured persons, mainly because of a primitive first aid. The use of gauze dressings, direct pressure, and tourniquets has long been adopted as a method of choice to stop bleeding in prehospital care. In this research, the effects of gelatin, gelatin/cuttlebone and SPONGOSTAN® sponges on in vitro human blood coagulation and platelet activation were comparatively studied. The gelatin and gelatin/cuttlebone sponges were fabricated by gamma-ray irradiation and freeze-drying method. The coagulation was assessed by the measure of the whole blood clotting time (WHBCT) and plasma recalcification time (PRT).
