제목 Effect of organic and inorganic nitrogen supplements in syngas fermentation by Clostridium autoethanogenum
초록 In recent years, bio-energy sources have become more important as a viable and economical alternative source. Ethanol is one of the bio-energy sources with high efficiency and low environmental impact. A highlighted ethanol production approach is the conversion of biomass using the hybrid technologies of gasification and fermentation. Clostridium autoethanogenum is a promising microorganism for bioconversion of synthesis gas composed to CO, CO₂, and H₂ to ethanol and acetic acid.  In this study, we used Clostridium autoethanogenum as a biocatalyst for conversion from synthesis gas to bioethanol and acetic acid. We investigated to the effect of organic nitrogen sources (such as yeast extract, tryptone and peptone) and inorganic nitrogen source (ammonium chloride) on microbial growth and product formation. Ethanol productivity, acetic acid productivity, and ethanol to acetic acid ratio were compared according to individual operating factor.
