Intermetallic (IM) Pt-based alloy nanoparticles are promising electrocatalysts with the enhanced activity and durability for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in the polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). However, their synthetic route typically requires complicated multi-step procedure. Therefore, a reliable approach should be developed for practical application. In this study, we introduce simple and scalable synthetic route to prepare IM PtFex (x = 0.2, 0.3, 0.5 and 0.6). In addition, the physicochemical and electrochemical properties on the IM PtFex electrocatalysts are systematically characterized through various analysis tools. Based on our research, we demonstrated IM Pt-based alloy materials could be practical alternative to replace commercial Pt/C. |
